De acordo com nota divulgada pela ANA, a situação foi constatada por meio da comparação de dados do Instituto Nacional de Meteorologia (Inmet) e do Serviço Geológico do Brasil (SGB), que apontaram que Rio Paraguai atingiu em abril o nível mais baixo desde o início da série histórica, após reduções observadas nas estações de monitoramento, desde o início deste ano.
A medida possibilita a declaração de situação de calamidade ou emergência por seca nos municípios ou estados atingidos, com vigência até o dia 31 de outubro de 2024. O prazo pode ser prorrogado ou antecipado, conforme haja permanência ou mudança nas condições críticas de escassez de recursos da bacia.
De acordo com a agência, desde o dia 7 de maio, uma sala de crise foi instalada na região, com a participação de gestores estaduais, representantes de usuários e do setor hídrico para acompanhamento e tomada de decisões.
