Em postagem nas redes sociais, Lula disse que falou com o governador por telefone e determinou aos ministérios da Integração e Desenvolvimento Regional, da Defesa e da Comunicação Social que atuem no estado. “[O] governo federal irá se somar aos esforços do governo estadual e prefeituras para atravessarmos e superarmos mais esse momento difícil, reflexos das mudanças climáticas que afetam o planeta”, escreveu.
Os temporais que castigam o Rio Grande do Sul desde ontem (29) já causaram estragos em mais de 70 municípios. Autoridades já reportaram a morte de cinco pessoas e algumas dezenas estão feridas ou desaparecidas. O estado vem sofrendo com ciclos cada vez mais recorrentes de intempéries climáticas.
No segundo semestre do ano passado, enchentes provocadas por fortes chuvas fizeram transbordar o Rio Taquari, em uma das piores cheias em décadas e deixaram um rastro de destruição, perdas materiais e cerca de 50 mortes.
